The Queen’s 90th Birthday

We had a little party held in the Village Hall
To celebrate the Queen's 90th Birthday and on St.George's day did fall
Table and chairs set out in one long row
Just as it would have been many years ago.

Bunting and flags hung around and across the room to do their bit
Even a hanging dragon holding sweets to be beaten by a stick!
Hobby horses for youngsters to play with in the yard
Jousting sticks and crowns to make all inside from card.

Entertaining music was provided by "Bread and Dripping"
This was Chas and Dave style to get all swinging
Face painting by Emma done in appropriate style
A Royal Quiz by Amelia of 21 questions took a while.

Teas and coffee with plenty of nibbles to share
Hot crumpets for anyone with plenty to spare
The Village Hall Committee put it all together
We were even lucky with the weather!

Joan made the cake that was decorated with taste
In red white and blue, rings and crowns with definitely no waste
Halfway through the proceedings Jim, as most senior, cut the ribbon
On the new bench to reside outside the Church from the Parish Council was given.

It was lovely to see people of all ages on that day
May future events continue to progress in this way.

‘Clean For the Queen’

Thank you to everyone who helped to pick up litter in the village recently as part of the 'Clean for The Queen' initiative.

More than 20 adults and children turned out to help, and collected over 40 bags of litter!

A great result and the village is looking much tidier!
